Use this versatile Cajun seasoning on a variety of meats, fish and vegetables to create fragrant meals in moments.

  • 2 teaspoons cumin seeds
  • 2 teaspoons coriander seeds
  • 2 teaspoons fennel seeds
  • 2 teaspoons sweet paprika
  • 2 teaspoons mustard powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper


  • Step 1
    Place cumin, coriander and fennel seeds in a small frying pan over low heat and cook, stirring, for 2 minutes or until seeds pop and mixture is fragrant. Remove from heat.
  • Step 2
    Place cumin mixture in a mortar and grind with a pestle until finely crushed. Place the cumin mixture, paprika, mustard powder, onion powder, oregano, garlic powder and cayenne pepper in a bowl and stir to combine.

Store this Cajun seasoning in an airtight container in a cool, dark place out of direct sunlight for up to 1 month. Variation- Moroccan spice: Place 1/2 tbs sweetpaprika, 3 tsp ground coriander, 1 tspground cinnamon, 1/2 tsp allspice, 1/2 tsp chilli powder and 1/2 tsp ground cardamom in a bowl. Stir to combine.
